Updates and September Pot Luck

As we continue to decorate and personalize our new classroom, we'd like to display photographs of all of our members.  Please either bring a snapshot of your family to class, or email one to agapedallas@yahoo.com. 

 

Please also email if you would like to be added to or deleted from the class email address, or if you need a name tag.

 

Don't forget to respond to the evite for this month's pot luck, 5:30 on the 27th at the Brister's house. 

Help... we need new SS class officers

We need to fill the flowing positions for the 2009 school year:

*President* (responsibilities include: attendance roster, officer meetings, opening/closing class or putting someone in charge of the same, liason with church for church events and represents class at SS council meetings)

*Vice President* (responsibilities include: communications & website)

*Social/Service* (responsibilities include: set up potlucks, social events, service events)

*Programming* (responsibilities include: usually a committee; set up all lessons and speakers)

*Evangelism/Membership* (responsibilities include: contact prospective new members from church's records; welcome visitors; contact members who have not attended in a while)

*Treasurer* (responsibilities include: keep track of funds, bank account, collect donations as needed)

*Care & Concern* (responsibilities include: arrange meals, notes for families in need)

If you are interested in a position and will not be at church this Sunday, please email and let us know and we'll be sure there's a spot for you!

August 5 - meeting & elections

This week's class will be a class meeting where we have a full agenda!

First and most important will be new officer elections. We want to thank our inaugural class of officers for the great work they've done in building a strong foundation for our class over the past year. This next year brings with it much excitement and opportunities as we grow in our faith, continue our service and build our presence at First Church.

News from Neetu

First, we are going to try and build some consistency with our social activities to make it easier for folks to plan for them as well. We will have brunch the second Sunday of every month at 11am. I know for those who typically attend the 11am service or are members of choir this can be an issue, however last brunch we had folks join us after the 11am service and we were still there and able to enjoy some fellowship.

Second, we plan to have a pot luck dinner the last Saturday evening of every month to be hosted at someone's home.

The calendar in our classroom will be updated with locations for brunch as well as the pot luck dinners as we go along. I will also send out a reminder email well in advance of these events.

I also wanted to mention that the first Sunday in June, 6/4 will be a business meeting instead of a traditional Sunday School class. We will use this time to talk as a group about what we all want to get out of this class, where do our passions around service focus and what our programming should look like. Please make every effort to attend that Sunday as this will truly be a key meeting that helps us to begin developing the personality and purpose of our class.

Please email with your current contact information, including a photo and any weblinks you would like included (such as a baby or family blog or wedding website you may have).  This will be included in our pictoral class directory.

Also, please email Joys and Concerns to us.  Since some of these may be private, this section of the site is password protected.  Ask at Sunday School for the username and password.

Finally, email any announcements you may have so they can be posted here.  [If you will be frequently posting announcements, please email so we can set up an email address for you to mail posts to, and the posts will automatically be put on the site.]
