We are suppoting the Gospel at the Crossroads fundraiser by ushering during the concert and serving food at the reception afterwards. The concert is at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2007, and we will need to be there between about 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
You can sign up on the board in class or by emailing James Stanton to help usher, bake and/or serve.
To help us raise money and contirbute to the Variations Choir Summer Tour we decided we would try our hand at a garage sale fund raiser! The garage sale is THIS SATURDAY MARCH 10!
We're having an Agape Class Garage Sale to raise money for the Variations tour. (We committed $1000 to them.)
It will be at the Rainwaters house in Mesquite on Saturday, March 10, 2007. So, save your garage sale items and be ready to bring them to the Rainwaters' house on 3/9. Brian Owens is taking care of signage.
Help out and bring food for our all-Sunday School thank you breakfast. Don't forget to come early on Sunday, January 28, with your food, at 9:00 (breakfast will be from 9:15-9:45). Please register what you will bring using the drop-down menu on the evite.

Variations Fundraiser/Concert -- Our class has committed to supporting First Church's Youth by raising $1000 for the Variations Choir tour. 
To express their gratitute, the Variations will send a photographer to our class at the beginning of Sunday School on January 21, 2007 to take our picture to be included in the concert program in recognition of our sponsorship.
Variations will have its fundraising concert on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 7 p.m. Our class will have front pew seating. We need to give them a headcount a few weeks before the concert to for space & tickets. Look for an forthcoming evite.
We are also suppoting Music & Arts for the Gospel at the Crossroads fundraiser -- Our class will be ushering during the concert and serving food at the reception afterwards. The concert is at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2007, and we will need to be there between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. 
In sum, important dates are as follows: (1) 1/21/07 - picture during Sunday School; (2) 2/10/07 - rsvp for Variations concert on 2/25/07; (3) 2/25/07 - Variations concert at 7 p.m.; (4) 4/1/07 - deadline to raise $1000 for Variations; and (5) 4/22/07 - ushering and food service duties from 6-9 p.m. to assist with the Gospel at the Crossroads concert.
Our service project for the holidays, as recommended by Rev. Jay Cole who leads our Crossroads Ministry, is to collect toiletries.
We will be leading a donation drive for these travel size toiletry needs. To make it fun, we're setting up the Sunday School classes in a friendly competition and we'll personally make and serve breakfast to the winning class sometime after Jan. 7 (we'll do it before Sunday School). We're placing a box inside each Sunday School class for collections.
Start picking up those unused toiletries from your hotel stays and bring them to Sunday School to place in our Agape Class box!
UPDATE: If you are speaking to a class, here is a list of the location of each class. Come to church early to pick up a wrapped box for collections from our classroom (G10), attach a flier (Download toiletry_drive.doc) to it (we'll have extras in our classroom for you to attach). Write the name of the Sunday School class you are leaving the box with on the bottom of your collection box or on the flier, just in case.
Just before 9:45, go introduce yourself to the class leadership and ask to make a quick announcement. Introduce yourself and our class to your target SS class and encourage them to donate to the drive! Tell them we'll make the victory breakfast worth their while, if they win. Some classes are small, but size is unimportant; with creativity, any class could win.
